Complete conversion kit with tilt column that includes a quick ratio rack and pinion and fixture welded mounting cradle, which fit between the frame rails and bolt in place using the original chassis location. State-of-the-art needle bearing universal joints, intermediate shafting, support bearing with moutning bracket, as well as grade 8 fasteners required to mount the rack and cradle. To make the system truly complete, included is a tilt steering column in the deluxe kit with wiring connectors and mounting accessories. The '69 kit even includes a billet under dash ignition switch.
Manual Rack and Pinion Kits
Flaming River has introduced the rack & pinion cradle steering system for the 1967-69 Chevrolet Camaro with L88-based big block engines.
The system is designed for Camaros with original or retrofit big block engines and is available in manual or power steering versions (power version shown). The rack & pinion cradle steering system is carefully designed to maintain the full stock steering radius.
The big block Camaro rack & pinion cradles are jig-welded and install in the original mounting location of the steering box and idler arm, using the stock mounting holes. No drilling, cutting or welding is required.
The big block Camaro rack & pinion cradle system is available with a new Flaming River stainless steel steering column in paintable mill finish polished finish. It is also available in a column-delete option for use with the original column. Each system includes all required Grade 8 mounting hardware, universal joints and shafting; and the column versions include the mounting accessories for the column. The power steering version includes the power steering pump and the remote reservoir.
